Barking Abbey’s Abigail Johnson has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend NCAA Division One St Bonaventure University for the 2016-17 season.
It marks the end of five years at Barking Abbey for the 6’1″ centre, who has been instrumental in the programme’s success as a monster presence on the inside.
Class of 2017 Johnson started playing at Hounslow Hawks junior programme before moving onto Barking Abbey where she played for both the WBBL and WEABL squads this season, averaging 7.5 points and 8.8 rebounds in the women’s top flight, and 7.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in the WEABL.
“I’m grateful to God for the opportunity,” Johnson said.
“I’m excited and looking forward to starting another chapter in my basketball career. It is going to a big challenge but I’m really looking forward to it. I’m also very thankful to my coaches for their continued support.”
Johnson is a long time junior National Team member, and received her first call up to Great Britain Senior Women’s camp last year.
We want to wish Abigail all the success at St Bonaventure University.
