England International and Charnwood College Riders Nicole Hofmann has gained a full athletic scholarship to NCAA Division One Presbyterian College.
Hofmann joins the list of many Charnwood College student athletes gaining USA scholarships, where we got up with the sharp shooter to find out more about her journey to play in the Big South Conference.
How does it feel to get a USA scholarship?
It is such a good feeling, it’s something I have wanted since I started playing basketball, knowing where I’ll be next year is so exciting!
How did the process go of finding a school in the USA?
It’s a very long and frustrating process, from sitting SATs, from filling out forms repeatedly, it just all really repetitive but knowing that it gets you to the US it so worth it
What are your goals heading to the USA?
Obviously I’m injured, and my goal going there would be just to play again, it’s going to be a long process but I’ll get there and eventually be able to show what I have got to give!
If there’s one piece of advice you would give players hoping for this opportunity what would it be?
Just stay positive! If it’s something you want to do you will always be motivated to try your best, even when there are days that you feel like you don’t want to anymore! I’m not saying it going to be easy but it so worth it in the end!
And finally, anyone you would like to thank.
One person I would like to particularly thank you is my coach Krumesh Patel, for the past 2 years he has been there for every single of one us, especially with us living away from home! He’s been a great coach and I have learnt a lot from him that I can take away!
Next I would like to thank my teammates, we have been through everything together, such good people on and off court and made playing with you so enjoyable it really has been the best 2 years!
Would finally like to thank my family for continually supporting me through everything! I don’t know what I’d do with yous! Thank you.
We want to wish Nicole all the success at Presbyterian College.
